Importance of early
identification & intervention !
The critical time for the development of the brain’s auditory or hearing centres is the first few months of life when the brain grows & develops very quickly. This is when sound stimulation allows the brain to set up thousands of connections to enable the baby to make sense of sound and eventually to understand and develop language. Early intervention of hearing loss may have a significant impact on the potential outcome for the baby. If the baby’s ears do not get enough sound stimulation, particularly in the first six months to five years, then it is likely that his/her ability to listen, understand and produce spoken language may be affected.
